37th All India Botanical Conference of Indian Botanical Society and National Symposium on Biodiversity and Climate Change is going to be held at Kelkar Education Trust’s V G Vaze College, Mulund (E), Mumbai – 400 081 from 07th to 09th November 2014 under the presidentship of Prof. T Pullaiah in collaboration with Maharashtra State Biodiversity Board, under the aegis of University of Mumbai. The Department of Botany, Vaze College and the Organizing Committee has great pleasure in inviting you to participate in the Conference and National Symposium.

The Indian Botanical Society (IBS), founded in 1920, is the National learned society  for Botanists of India. The Society's activities include Lectures, Symposia, Field Excursions, Field Projects and an Annual Society Meeting for exchange of information between Botanists working in different areas.

THEME

Biodiversity and Climate Change with special reference to India is the theme of this Conference and National Symposium.  The Conference and Symposium is focused on theme of Biodiversity and Climate Change and would involve deliberations including Special Lectures on current topics by eminent Indian and Foreign Botanist to apprise the participants about the functioning of the Central Bio-Diversity Authority and State Bio-diversity Boards constituted as per Bio-diversity Act of 2002 so that the participants can effectively function as members of Local Bio-diversity Committees at District, Block and Village levels of the country to achieve the objectives enunciated by IUCN with reference to Bio-diversity of our nation.

The Symposium on Bio-diversity and Climate Change will also include Interdisciplinary Areas and Award Lectures and Presentations of Research Papers on diverse fields in Botany by young men and women scholars. The deliberations on various aspects of Bio-diversity will be of major National and Academic Importance.

The Three-Day Conference, besides the Presidential address includes Five Medal Award Lectures, Two Special Invited Lectures, and Several Concurrent Sessions.

AWARDS

In order to encourage Young Scientists below the age of 30 years Society awards 'Certificate of Merit' and Medals for the Best Paper presented in the Conference. Society encourages Young Botanists, below the age of 35 years for presenting their papers for ‘Young Botanist Award’

A Medal is awarded to an outstanding Plant Morphologist / Taxonomist and an Award for Women Scientist up to the age of 50 and two separate Medals / Awards for the Women Scientist are presented every year.

Certificate of Merit to Best Paper in Each Section, Prof K S Bilgrami Gold Medal and Prof S C Dixit Cash Prize  (below 30 years)

Young Botanist AwardBest Paper – Dr M S Swaminathan Merit Certificate and Dr Bahadur Singh Gold Medal (below 35 years)

Women Botanist Award – Best Paper (below 50 years)

Medal Award for Women Scientist – (BioData and 10 latest publications – below 50 years)

How to Reach:

The College can be reached from Mulund (East) Railway Station by Bus Route No 370 or Auto Rickshaw in Minimum Fare.

The College is accessible by road from the Eastern Express Highway.

All outstation Delegates travelling either by Central or Western Railway are requested to alight at Dadar (Central and Western) Station. Mulund is 23 kms from Dadar Station.

College can also be reached from Thane(Central Railway) Station. Mulund is 5.5 Kms from Thane station.

Delegates reaching by Air are requested to come to venue by TAXI. Mulund is 21 Kms from the AIRPORT.
